day 37/1132 homework homework homework
homework homework homework
chuff chuff chuff
Post accident I’ve been consumed everyday by some administrivia dealing with some aspect of damage control. I’m playing catch up… it should all work out – I’ve been communicating with my professors so they know how I’m doing — trying to do homework on pain meds and all. They’ve been very understanding and flexible. I’ve been working my butt off trying to catch up, and still produce good work.
I love my history class (most of the time) the professor gives a fuckton of reading and a lot of writing each week. When I can get the info into my head the writing is really fun. This week (in my catch up game) I’ve had 5 essays due. pleh.
My first Spanish composition is due this week – it’s done, 2 days early. That was fun… not really. I hunkerd down today and just got it done before I left campus. My Spanish/English dicctionario got a workout. I can read espanol well enough and with reference material, write well enough, but I’m tanking on quizzes – of course they’ve all happened in the last couple weeks, I’m struggling with pain and concentration – I had a quiz today and I think that was a total wash. I do get it though… but I need to learn to rely less on reference material — which is tough I use it pretty heavily in English too. I seriously have a mini OED in my back pack.
And oddly my photo assignment is routinely the hardest to get done. We only meet twice a week, one lecture Monday and one seminar (usually the same day, but I’ve been splitting them to do the seminar on Tuesday), we’re free the rest of the week to figure it out. I allot my bus rides to my photo text book reading, which is awesome! But getting outside to shoot is tricky because it’s already dark when I get home, and I work on Saturday. Sunday is a major cram day. If I weren’t already carrying 35lbs of backpack, I’d take my camera with me every day too, but the load just gets too heavy. Of course I could use the magic portable sunshine, but the class hasn’t gotten to lighting yet and I’m not sure that’s fair play.
So catch up. It feels like a lot. I can’t imagine how people work 2-3 jobs and go to school full time. I’m in classes 12.5 hours a week (actually on campus 18) with a minimum of 20 hours of homework a week, and commuting 15 hours a week — where is the time to work? WHERE? I’m pulling a 50+ hour "work" week here. Hey wait that is a lot!
